Meet Karter Beattie
It is probably fair to say that when Kyle and Leah Beattie gave birth to their young son, the name they chose may have set in motion a bit of inevitable predestination - they chose the name "Karter", and not quite five years later, young Karter was indeed racing Outlaw Karts at Millbridge Speedway.
He earned the nickname "Katfish" early on in his career because he was a bit scared of the outside wall, so, much like the Katfish, he tended to be a "bottom feeder". The nickname stuck, and he carries it with a sense of humor. You can find a "Katfish" on his car, his helmet, and his merch! It should be noted, however, that he no longer fears "ripping the lip" by running the top near the wall. He rather enjoys it!
Two years later, he began winning and hasn't stopped since. Karter is now the all-time wins leader at Millbridge Speedway, with 94 trips to victory lane, including two this year in the 600 Micro Sprint division. He beat legendary racer Kyle Larson to secure his first win.
You can see his stats below. Last year was a year that any racer at any age would have been proud of. He started 152 features and won 56 with 112 top-five finishes!
He rolls into 2026 with 97 career wins. He's Millbridge Speedway's leading all-time winner with a combined total of 47 wins in Outlaw Karts and Micro Sprints. His stats for the past three years, from 2023 to 225, show 73 wins, 187 top-five finishes, and 239 top-ten finishes.
For 2026, Karter, 14, will begin running more non-wing Micro Sprint races, concentrating once again on Millbridge Speedway, and it is a safe bet that he will still run with the wing on in a select number of starts as well. His goal remains to secure a seat in one of the two premier series of 410 Sprint Car racing, and he may also test and secure some racing starts in a 360 Sprint Car during the season.
